A Brief Introduction To Anatolian Dogs

 Anatolian Shepherd Dog

Based on our findings and research, we refer the Boz, Kangal and Malakli Shepherds are the Ultimate Magnificent 3 Anatolian Shepherds. They are all originated from Turkey.
General Description

The Anatolian Dog is a large, powerful, heavy-boned dog, muscular breed whose size and proportions have developed naturally as a result of its continued use in Turkey as a guardian against predators such as wolves, cheetahs, bears, jackals and other means of threat to the flocks.

They have thick necks, broad heads, and sturdy bodies. The head is large with their lips are tight to their muzzle and they have triangular drop ears (some breeders have their ears cropped). The Ultimate 3 have some slight differences in term of body structure and look but sharing the similar temperament and health.

Temperament & Health

They are very independent, intelligent, alert, territorial and defensive of domestic animals or the family members to which they have bonded. The Anatolian Dogs have the strength, courage, speed to intercept and confront threats without compromising. They are somewhat reserved with strangers, but loyal and affectionate with family members. The owners of Anatolian must get them to socialize with people to make them become good companions. The objective in training this dog is to achieve pack leader status aka being the Alpha. It is a natural instinct for a dog to have an order in its' pack. We must assure humans are the Alpha in their pack.

They can live very well with other animals if they are introduced while still a puppy. Unlike other large breeds, they mature somewhere between 18 months and 36 months.

Based on the survey conducted by UK Kennel Club in 2004, the median life span for the 23 deceased dogs (a small sample size) in the survey was 10.75 years. This is 3-4 years longer than other breeds of their size, which have median longevity of 6–8 years only. However according to our research and understanding from world well known trustworthy breeders, their life span is 12-15 years.
